When you renew your Permanent Residence card, you need to let the government know where you’ve physically lived. As a result, sometimes Immigration Canada will send you a Canadian Permanent Residency Questionnaire. Upon receiving this, you only have 45 days to complete it and source out the necessary supporting documentation.

If you don’t provide the necessary proof and completed Canadian Permanent Residency Questionnaire within 45 days, Immigration Canada can then turn around and question you and can ask you to leave Canada. If you decide to appeal their decision, this process can take 1-2 years. If you decide not to appeal their decision, you need to return to your home country.
