Canada’s immigration department is restarting its draws on July 6th for all programs under Express Entry — a system used to select so-called economic immigrants — after it temporarily shut down over the pandemic and travel restrictions that came with it.

While this would come as good news for many stuck in the considerable backlog of applicants seeking permanent residency, those who spoke with CTVNews.ca say the long pause and wait times have led to uncertainty and suffering in their lives.
