The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has paused new draws across its streams while it transitions to a new system, which is expected to be implemented within the next few weeks.
- No new draws will take place from the current Expression of Interest (EOI) pools. As a result, there is no practical benefit to submitting new job offers at this time, as candidates will not be invited under the existing system.
- Current applications (already filed with OINP) will continue to be processed under the rules that were in place at the time of submission.
- At this time, there is no clear timeline for when these existing applications will be finalized.
For candidates currently in the EOI pool:
- Employers will be required to submit new job offers in order for candidates to be re-entered into the new system once it is launched.
- However, employer information from previous applications is expected to carry forward, reducing the need to re-submit all employer details.
There has been no official announcement regarding the new selection criteria, but early indications suggest that:
- A strong connection to employment in Canada (e.g., a valid job offer or Canadian work experience) will likely result in higher ranking under the new system.
