Ask Jennifer: I am a permanent resident. How can I apply for Canadian Citizenship?
If you are a permanent resident in Canada and want to become a citizen there are many things to think about.
First, what country are you from? Does getting your Canadian citizenship affect your current citizenship, will this be a problem? Secondly, will a Canadian citizenship affect your retirement funds or your taking from your original country? Changing status from permanent resident to citizen is completely up to you. If you are sure about it, then you must be able to prove that you have lived here for 4 out of the last 6 years, that you have language skills, and that you have a knowledge of Canada.
