Canada will begin to collect data on every traveller leaving the country by land and by air.
The new measures are set to start later this year, in an effort to identify potential terrorists, and snowbirds who lie about their country of residence in order to claim government benefits.
Tracking this data will also help to enforce residency requirements for permanent residents, and to identify those who fail to leave the country as required.
