Dear friends,

I am writing to share important information about the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. The federal government has increased our provincial nomination allocation in 2018. We now have the capacity to nominate to the federal government for permanent residency 6,600 applicants, which represents an increase of twenty per cent since 2016.

This means that the OINP is now the largest Provincial Nominee Program in the country.

The OINP will begin accepting new applications on January 18th. All streams will be open except for the Masters Graduates and PhD Graduates streams, which will be opening at a later date. Please monitor our website for more information.

This year, the application process will be entirely online. This is part of a larger modernization of the program designed to deliver an enhanced user experience. Recently, we also expanded the program to welcome a more diverse group of economic immigrants, including those in the skilled trades and in-demand occupations in the construction and agricultural sectors.

Our 2018 allocation increase from our federal partners is recognition of Ontario’s role in the economy of the country. The OINP will continue to evolve to help our province meet the rapidly-changing labour market needs associated with a global economy.

Thank you for your support.

Laura Albanese

Minister of Citizenship and Immigration
