Federal Government to Eliminate Incentive for Foreign Workers to Combat Immigration Fraud

“This news announcement is drastic and upsetting for many temporary foreign workers and their employers.  However, they should not panic yet.  There are many unknown factors – when would this change take effect, especially with the uncertain future of current Liberal government?  Will the currently LMIA-workers get any grandfathering effect?  Will both 50 and 200 ppts be gone or not?

Regardless of points available for permanent resident application, without LMIA and work permit, temporary foreign workers cannot continue working in Canada.  That did not change. I recommend everyone to wait and see the next announcement first.”
