Late last year, IRCC changed the age of dependents from “under 19” to “under 22”. Based on these new requirements, individuals and families in the midst of the application process have been able to register newly defined dependent children as an addendum to their existing application. The due date for adding more family members is nearing, though; all family members additions must be made to existing applications (that were submitted prior to this change) by January 31st, 2018. After that, individuals will need to re-start the application process in order to claim a newly defined dependent.
